“Sitter” Jan. 23–March 25

If you haven’t made it to the current exhibition, “Sitter” at the Canzani Center gallery please take the time to visit this week!

Twenty-seven artists explore the idea of the portrait as it exists in contemporary photography in Sitter. The convergence of conceptual artists and social documentarians in the exhibition yields work that carefully balances aesthetics, political ideas, and the essence of identity to frame important social issues in a contemporary manner.

Exhibiting artists include Robert Beck, Dawoud Bey, Doug Biggert, Matthew Brant, Mike Brodie, Kelli Connell, John Coplans, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Rineke Dijkstra, Craig Doty, Gustavo Germano, Nan Goldin, Katy Grannan, Doug Ischar, Nina Katchadourin, Natalie Krick, Leigh Ledare, Catherine Opie, Suzanne Opton, JR, Hrair Sarkissian, Celia Shapiro, Daniel Shea, Anna Shteynshleyger, Arne Svenson, Brian Ulrich and Michael Wolf.

Gallery Hours: Monday, closed; Tuesday–Friday, 10 a.m.–7 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday, noon–6 p.m. (The gallery is generally closed for holidays when the college is closed.)sitter
