CCAD is very excited to have their first Artist in Residence!
Sarah Mattes will be joining us this fall to assist both undergraduate, graduate courses and mentoring individual students. Also during Matte’s time here she will be giving a public lecture on her work as well as a workshop. We are looking forward to having her with us from Aug 22 till Dec 15.
Sarah Mattes is an artist and teacher. Exploring the mysteries and realizations of the every day, Sarah works with a variety of methods and materials towards an understanding of intimacy, exchange and memory. These ideas have materialized in many different forms, from experimental exhibitions about gift exchange to notational screen prints and sculptures. Recently, she has made a series of dance pieces by layering gestures of play and utility to create cycles of movement and correspondence. Sarah received her MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in 2015 and has recently shown and performed work at the Judson Church, New York; 356 Mission, Los Angeles; Regina Rex, New York; Stene Projects, Stockholm; and Blackston, New York. She spent this summer collaborating with her fiancé on a musical project from which they will release an album this fall. Currently she is learning the drums and Castilian.
